Monday, June 15th

1. Have a good look through the blog posting titled,
"Term 4 To Do List"

2. Go though each item and double-check that you have handed it in! (a lot of you are missing stuff...)

3. Make sure you have evaluated yourself on the following assignments and submitted them to Ms. Echols!
  • Photogram
  • Still Life
  • Process Journal for TERM 4
~Also....if you want any other marks re-submitted from previous terms, make sure you hand in a self-evaluation!
(Talia, Victoria, Michelle)

4. Pick your favourite photo from the entire year and drop it in the "to print" folder inside "Echols 9/10" folder in the "Student Share" file.

DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON IT! LONG STORY....just leave it as the photo # number. Jade will lay all the images out & you can find yours and hang it on the magnetic black board in the hall.

*IMPORTANT!* ~For Re-Submitting & Late Assignments

Ok Guys. I am implementing a new protocol for re-submitting assignments....Some of you have completed the blue forms (office paperwork), which is a good start.

The pile of re-submitted/late assignments is growing larger and larger....but to be perfectly honest, they are still at the bottom of my priority list. There are so many other things that need to get looked after first. I have noticed that I never seem to have time to get to them, so here's my solution:

You are going to mark yourselves!

You want the mark, you're gonna have to do the work. It's as simple as that. I have hung marking rubrics by the white board at the back of the room (photo to the left). There are sheets for:

  • digital images
  •  contact sheets
  •  B&W prints

There are also sheets by the door for marking your process journals: (make sure you grab the right one!)
  • TERM #1
  • TERM #2 (Gr. 9 & Gr. 10)
  • TERM #3 (Gr. 9 & Gr. 10)

Here's how you do it:

  1. Get the correct form
  2. Mark your own work
  3. Hand in marked work & sheet to the IN BOX
~Ms. Echols will look over your self-assessment and make any necessary changes. She will do her best to have it entered in her books by the next day. Your job is to give gentle reminders & be patient. Got it? ;)

Deadlines & Assignments

Look up "Term 4 To Do" posting again and pay special attention to the recent additions:
  • Photogram
  • Sill Life @ Home

Tough Love: Ms. Echols does not have time to chase you down over assignment deadlines any more. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for making sure things are handed in on time....and next week it's June.  How many weekends do you have left to get it all done? It is up to you to seek help if you need it. (Ms. Echols will be around until 3:15pm this Friday and is usually happy to meet after school any time between Monday & Thursday). Ask for help if you need it. Otherwise she will assume everything is OK.

2) Your Photography Assignment: Still Life at Home

       posted on your blog
Please note: Anyone that decides to do a pinhole photograph, will get bonus marks!

You will arrange & photograph a still life at your own home. It must say something or tell a story about you & your living space. This assignment is the accumulation of all you have learned so far this year. You will be marked on your lighting, composition, and degree of difficulty. There is a lot riding on this single, simple, image so be sure to do your best. Good luck!

3) Due (on or before) June 11th
      Self-assessment rubric to follow...
